Idaho Pan For Gold Follow in the footsteps of the first valley settlers and join us on a gold panning expedition. You never know when a flash of color will appear in your pan. Barry has his secret honey holes where he rarely misses some show.
A flake of gold, however small, makes a great souvenir of your Idaho backcountry explorations. The cool waters flowing through Devil's Bathtub from the gold fields at the headwaters of the East Fork provide excitement and refreshment for gold seekers on a warm summer day. After spending an afternoon being refreshed by the swirling East Fork waters at the Devil's Bathtub and collecting those treasured flakes of gold, guests return to the lodge for our daily social hour where wine and beer are enjoyed with appetizers on our wide front porch and tales of hunting and fishing adventures are exchanged with other guests and Wapiti Meadow's guides and owners. A 'hearty gourmet' dinner follows, with the possibility afterward of a twilight dip in our hot tub with the best view in the valley and a spectacular 'light show' in a sky full of stars, undimmed by any artificial light. You can listen for minutes at a time and never hear a man-made sound - no planes overhead, no horns or sirens in the distance, no disturbance to the night air but perhaps the howl of a wolf, cry of a coyote or bugle of a bull elk |
