Idaho Wilderness Pack Trips

Experience an unforgettable adventure with a wilderness pack trip that can offer great Alpine lake fishing and unending vistas of mountain ridges and river valleys.

Deep in the Salmon River Mountains, in and adjacent to the largest Wilderness area in the Lower 48 States, you will find mountain man and gold rush history and trails thousands of years old that led Native Americans and explorers into the most remote mountain wilderness area in the West.

Journeys are now made easy with modern camping equipment, pack stock to carry all your supplies and gear, and knowledgeable guides to interpret nature and history, set up your camps, cook your 'grub' and keep you safe.

Join us for one of our Wilderness Pack Trip adventures either hiking or riding to a multitude of fishing lakes and scenic trails amid our lush, heavily timbered and stream-filled mountains. These expeditions can be altered to suit the interests and stamina of your group and scheduled to suit your vacation timetable. There is a four person minimum on all trips.

Wilderness Pack Trip Adventures

Horseback riding or hiking with packstring support. Planned around high mountain lake fishing or scenic views.

Alpine Lake Trail (*Fishing Trip)

5 days, 4 nights ($1,500 hiking; $1,750 riding)

Day 1: Pack from Wapiti Meadow to Rainbow Lake (or drive to Rainbow Trailhead for shorter hike into lake)
Day 2: Camp and fish Rainbow, hike to summit, ride and/or
hike to Shellrock Lake
Day 3: Pack from Rainbow to Caton Lake
Day 4: Camp and fish Caton, or ride Indian Hill Trail
Day 5: Pack from Caton to Wapiti Meadow

Wilderness Overlook Trail

3 days, 2 nights ($800 hiking, $1200 riding)
4 days, 3 nights ($1070 hiking, $1,620 riding)

Day 1: Pack from Thunder Mountain Trailhead to
Burnt Log Camp
Day 2: Pack to Chilicoot Lake
Day 3: Pack back to Thunder Mtn. Trailhead
OR
Day 2: Pack to Browning Creek Meadow
Day 3: Pack to Chilicoot Lake
Day 4: Pack back to Thunder Mtn. Trailhead

Prospectors Trail (*Fishing Trip)

5 days, 4 nights ($1,500 hiking, $1,750 riding)

Day 1: Pack to East end, Riordan Lake
Day 2: Camp and fish or hike/ride to Meadow Creek Lookout
Day 3: Pack to Chilicoot Lake
Day 4: Pack to Burnt Log Camp
Day 5: Pack to Thunder Mtn. Trailhead

Ridgerunner Trail

5 days, 4 nights ($1,500 hiking; $1,750 riding)

Day 1: Pack to Burnt Log Camp
Day 2: Pack to Snowshoe Cabin
